Walther P38, 9mm pistol. No import marks. This is a rare chrome or nickel-plated version with original brown bakelite grips. Brought home by a WW2 vet (don't know his name) who took it from a German pilot. Matching serial number 7422d. Left side of slide is stamped "P.38" and "byf" over "43" and the serial number.

The Walther P38 (also known as a Pistole 38) is a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol that was developed by Walther arms as the service pistol of the Wehrmacht shortly before World War II. It was intended to replace the costly Luger P08 , the production of which was scheduled to end in 1942.
